Playing with tyvek

This is what happens if you iron a piece of tyvek with an iron thats too hot. Most melted and disappeared, and i probably sucked up the fumes and the rest of it is in my lungs now. I had expected it to pucker up into odd shaped bubbles, not completely disappear in places like this. I like the effect but dont recommend doing this without wearing a good face mask to catch all the nasty fumes.

Once was fishes

This is a reworked old acrylic paint collage. I added clear string gel and Rub-Ons when dry to colour it. The plan was to just hit the tops of the gel strings but as they were far apart i got alot on the bckgrd in between. So i went with it....well i had to.....this stuff is sort of oily and dosnt all wipe off. Anyhow it turned out ok i thought so i did this "happy mistake" technique on another piece and it actually turned out alot better as its on a smoother bckgrd. It will be uploaded tomorrow as June 21 art.

Number 47 String

This is on rosin paper. I tried it as a substrate since it was getting so much good publicity on the Technique Group. Its found in building supply stores, sometimes called "Red Rosin" and is laid underneath new hardwood floors. Like alot of other artists i found i liked the effects while arting on it, paint goes on nicely and does what you want it to do, its tough enough to handle all kinds of wet techniques and certainly is cheap enough (if you can find it) In the U.S. its available in huge rolls for less than $8. at some Home Depots.
In Canada however its not to be found anywhere so i had to trade for some on the Partes ala Cartes group.
I gesso'ed this bckgrd first then painted with acrylic paint. When it was dry i stamped the numbers and small squares then swirled Liquitex String Gel over all. I let it dry overnight then applied metallic Rub-Ons with a finger.
